Opera from one of the most important opera composers of the 18th century.
An episode from Aeneis by Publius Vergilius Maro.

Premiered in 1727 in Napoli on order of the Austrian Viceroy of Cardinal Michael Friedrich, Count of Althann. He was born in 1680 in Glatz (Kladsko in Bohemia), studied in Hradec Králové. His kinswoman Marie Anna Pignatelli, a charming and intelligent favourite of Emperor Charles VI, asked Court Architect Anton Erhart Martinelli to build new parts of the Vranov nad Dyji Castle (Frain an der Thaya) in South Moravia.
